- Here's my family's "luck" with GM vehicles: --1973 Buick Apollo: 350 cid V-8 (made by GM), 3-speed automatic. Bought it used in 1976. Left us stranded twice due to failed alternators (this car always had major electrical problems). Transmission failed in Spring 1979 (barely 50K miles).
